Finally I have a picture of Riley and friends at school.

In the picture we have (left to right): Sarah, Riley, Ethan and Leah (spell).

A new little boy stated this week. So I hope to be able to get an updated pic soon.

Big Girl Bed

On Sunday, after delaying since December (or late November) 2008, we decided to take the leap and move Riley into a "Big Girls Bed". This is the bed which Emma slept in over Christmas and has been waiting for us to make the move ever since.

We made a bit of a fuss about setting it all up and saying good bye to the cot etc.

We expected a bit of a fuss at bed time, which has been happening off and on anyway, but there was none of that.

Riley went to bed quite happily. On teh way past the study (new baby room), she said goodbye to the cot, and went off to bed with no fuss at all.

Tonight is the seond night and so far so good...

Fun Pics

I decided to post these two just for fun!

Super Girl

I am not sure where Riley got this idea - could have been at school, but she wanted to have a cloak tied around he so that she could run around the pool looking like an action hero.

She went off an got her gum boots and had a great time racing around the pool and through the house.

Racing Riley Take II

Riley still loves to race around the house like a crazy person - hence her early nick name of Racing Riley.

The other day she took to using her table as a car to transport toys around the house like a truck - sounds and all.

4D Scan at 17 weeks

One of the benefits of seeing Dr Hartmann is that he has a 4D sonar machine. We were extra lucky this time as he has a "test" machine that he is evaluating. This resulted in us getting a 4D scan at 17 weeks - which is quite amazing.

You can see the face and two hands that remain in front of the face, almost as if hiding. Hopefully not a sign that our boy is going to be a "shy guy".

It's a ???

We went for our 16 weeks scan (at 17 weeks) yesterday, and were fortunate enogh to get a really good scan of our healthy little baby.

The following video shows what we are having...

The arrow shows the two legs and then the umbilical cord. Dr Hartmann then points out the area to keep an eye on.

The view then changes and the gender becomes quite obvious.

He then points out the umbilical cord again, and the the genitals.

So we are having a BOY!

We have a good idea of what names we like - any suggestions or guesses from those who don't know or remember?

First full length movie

Today Riley watched most of a full length movie. Her choice was the movie "The Shaggy Dog" with Tim Allen.

Knowing Riley this is quite an apt choice. She has always been besotted with dogs - so much so that it was one of her first words (if not the first).

She sat through most of the moving with this fascinated look on her face.

The movie ran past her bedtime and she was very tired but wanted to stay to the end.

Happy Days

As you may know Riley started a "play group" nearly two weeks ago.

The first day she was really not keen. As Eleanor said, she had to peel Riley off me like paint.

She has however gotten better and better. So much so that last Friday she actually asked to go to "Leanor". She rushed through breakfast and wanted to put her shoes on to "go".

There are only three other children at the group (Ethan, Leea and Sarah), so maybe that is why she has settled down so well.

So far there have been no conflict issues, though we did warn Eleanor that there had been a problem over Christmas.

Riley is also learning a few new things - which she brings home with her. She has taken to re-arranging our door mats to match the reading mat at school, at the little blue chairs get arranged to make a reading circle. She also sings nursery rhymes etc. which she didn't before.

Sorry that we have no pics, but I have not wanted to disturb too much. I will try get one soon though.

Riley also seems to like the fact that "Granny fetch me", so she has that certainty to hold on to.

Hopefully with Claudia away this week everything will remain on track, and then we can go back to the plan of Claudia dropping her on the way to work, so that I can still get to work in time to do what I need to do.
